What a bitter cold morning! I woke up nice an early around 4:30 am in the small town of Bishop along highway 395 in the Eastern Sierra. When i first rolled out of my sleeping bag (never easy when it's a handful below zero) the Sierras were covered in clouds. Usually a good thing, but this time, it covered the whole mountain. As I drove around aimlessly, scouting a spot to shoot, I ended up at this location, and as the sun began to rise, a nice layer of clouds rolled in from the west. When the sun began to rise over the snow covered Owens Valley, I watched some of the most exquisite light I have experienced in the Sierras and left with this image.
